Just finished Persepolis last night by Marjane Satrapi. Satrapi's graphic novel covers her life in Iran from about the time she was 6-14 years old. Her parents are Marxists and the book is a description of the political upheavel that occurred during those years in Iran (fall of the Shah, Islamic Revolution, war with Iraq). Similar themes exist like with many stories of political and religious persecution but the graphic novel moves very quickly and the black and white images are wonderfully compelling.
