Saturday June 4

Just finished Persepolis last night by Marjane Satrapi. Satrapi's graphic novel covers her life in Iran from about the time she was 6-14 years old. Her parents are Marxists and the book is a description of the political upheavel that occurred during those years in Iran (fall of the Shah, Islamic Revolution, war with Iraq). Similar themes exist like with many stories of political and religious persecution but the graphic novel moves very quickly and the black and white images are wonderfully compelling.

Librariankp4 first post

Well, I am finally exploring the concept of having my very own blog! On June 26, I will begin working as a young adult librarian. I was thinking that I would like to post some reviews of books that would appeal to young adults. Many books, although not specifically for YA, can interest young adult readers. I hope some of you who read this blog would consider posting some of your own reviews!
